It's been away awhile but it is now back with us and we are hoping for a great weekend discovering all sorts of digital quackery. Yes, people will be constructing their own internet and taking selfies while on the loo, so suffice to say yes it is the AND Festival. The same people who brought you David Shrigley giving people tattoos in Untility's window are entertaining us over the wekend with a pile of other mad performamces, cinema and digital interventions. (Yes I said interventions)

The Technology Strategy Board (TSB) published their new £26m Creative Industries Strategy last week. Alongside the Strategy, the TSB is announcing a number of funding programmes to be launched in the next six months. This major new investment is intended to boost innovation and growth for the UK's creative and digital businesses. The funding is aimed at major collaborative research and development projects. Don't you know that OggCamp is the largest Open Source and Free Culture event in the UK and is now entering it's 5th year?
That it has gradually grown to 400+ attendees and had talks from such luminaries as Stephen Fry?
As free and open source culture events go they don't get much better than this - in fact I'm not sure if there are any other free and open source culture events. This really does beat the AND Festival. hands down.
It's a intensive three-day workshop where you can learn how to manipulate computer networks and how they can be used to manipulate us. It's delivered by Julian Oliver and Danja Vasiliev.
If you not familiar with Julian Oliver's work, he describes himself as a critical engineer, creates projects that are technically brilliant and politically critical, Newstweet and The Transparency Grenade.
Jelly Liverpool is a little bit of heaven as it gives freelancers in the digital sector the opportunity to get away from the home office and hang out with others in their sector. Swapping stories, contacts, making plans and collaborating on projects are all acceptable activities at Jelly Liverpool plus it all take places upstairs at the uber cool Leaf Cafe on Bold Street.
